Cup and Saucer

Maker - unknown

Made in Japan - ???

A note from Geoff on Monday 10th July 2006

This cup and saucer was given to Sharon earlier this year
A present from our next door neighbours, Nev and Heath

No reason - they gave it to her just because they wanted to!!!

Nev said he had picked it up at a garage/jumble sale "for a few dollars"
There are no makers' markings on either piece

He thought that the pattern was very unusual,
and that Sharon might like it to add to her collection of cups and saucers

Vintage 1950's Lustre Heart and Rose Cup and Saucer
Very chic!!
This is such a pretty duo
The set features lots of pink roses and plenty of gold trims
What I love the most is the unusual heart shaped cut outs on the saucer - it is so sweet
This is all finished off with a lovely rainbow lustre
The stamp on the bottom states 'Fine China Made in Japan'
and then the hand written number 1784
The set is in very good condition with no chips or cracks

- The Ebay Auction #02

Vintage Japanese Lustre Cutwork Cup and Saucer
This is a most attractive vintage Japanese lustre and cutwork cup and saucer
My father brought it back from Japan in either the late 1950's or early 1960's
It has that lovely pearl lustre and gilding with pink roses
It is in good condition with no chips or cracks
It does have some colour which looks to be missing in the flowers
but this occurred at the time of manufacture and does not detract from it
The saucer has a diameter of 15cm (6")
and the cup has a diameter of 10cm (4") and it stands 7cm (3")high
It would be a lovely piece to display in a cabinet!!
Item location - Ascot Vale, Victoria Australia
This auction ended on Sunday 3rd September 2006
The starting price was set at $14.99 and there were three bids during the auction
The final selling price was $16.50

- The Ebay Auction #03

Vintage Japanese Lustre Cutwork Cup and Saucer
This is a very pretty Japanese lustre cup and saucer
The cup features a heavily gilded handle and rim and has a delicate raised base
The saucer is also gilded and there is a lovely cutwork pattern around the edge
Both feature most beautiful pansies in purples, yellow and white
I am uncertain of age but suspect that they are from the 1950's or 1960's
They are marked 'Fine China Made in Japan' on the base
There are no chips or cracks
The saucer has a diameter of 16cm (6.25") and the cup stands 7.5cm (3") high
Item location - Ascot Vale, Victoria Australia
