Willow Metric Kitchen Measure

From around the 1960's

A note from Geoff on Thursday 22nd March 2007
No real reason for buying this
and it's something that may never be used
Just an addition to Sharon's display of Kitchenalia Items!!!

But you never know
Sharon eats the type of ingredients that this measure is used for
Such as -
flour, cocoa, rolled oats, ground rice, groats, cornflour, ground almonds,
shredded suet, sugar, rice, pulses, dried fruit, tapioca - and more
So it could be used every day!!!

Question - what the hell are "groats" and "pulses"???

This vintage metal cook's measure was made in England by Tala - stands approx 14cm tall and approx 10.5cm wide - silver and teal in colour - it has one very small dent on the first "L" in level and a few bits of paint off round the rim but nothing to detract from the usefulness of the item - there are also a couple of minor scratches on the silver area, probably from its many trips to the kitchen sink - for all those who have inherited their Grandmother's well loved recipes, there is a conversion chart on the outside - on the interior, apart from the standard cup measure, this item can be used to measure everything in pints, ounces, pounds and gills and all types of ingredients including flour, cocoa, rolled oats, ground rice, groats, just to name a few!! - wow, every good cook's kitchen needs one of these!! - February 2007

You may call me shabby but my Mum calls me 'very useful'!! - this metal kitchen measure is made in Australia by Willow - stands approx 13cm tall and 11cm wide at the top - whilst it is called a metric kitchen measure, the flour etc measurements are given in metric with an imperial equivalent (eg 250g = 6oz) so no need to panic converting Granny's old recipes - it's all done for you!! - at a guess I would say this item has been around since the mid-late 1960's - there are quite a few scratches on the outside which is to be expected from regular use, but the inside is in good condition - all ingredients and measurements being quite crisp and clear - March 2007
