A note from Geoff

This is a 'surprise present' for Sharon !!
... and this one can sit on her desk and be a "MOTHER"
to the five smaller swans as shown on
this page
I think it would make a nice display to see this larger version
surrounded by the five smaller ones ... and they are all different colours !!

Auction #01

You are bidding on a lovely medium sized black swan with red beak by Wembley Ware - the piece has no chips or cracks - measures 20cm in length - the swan is stamped Wembley Ware on the base - November 2008
Final selling price - $10.00
It is not mentioned in these details, but this one seems to have a few wear spots

Auction #02

Vintage large green Wembley Ware swan vase - this item is in great condition - and it still has the original sticker on the base - it is also embossed Wembley Ware on the base - measures approx 20cm long and 13cm high - November 2008
Final selling price - $36.00

Auction #03

Here we have a lovely white Wembley Ware lustre swan with a brown beak - on the base it has the original label together with the impressed Wembley Ware mark - this swan is 20cm long, 13.5cm high and 10cm wide - it shows a dark spot just above the left eye which I suspect is a fault during manufacture - it also has a small 5mm crack on the tip of the tail - neither of these small flaws detract from the overall appearance and are mentioned for accuracy - there are no other chips, cracks, scratches or repairs - I have read that these larger swans are more difficult to find - this one would make a great addition to any collection - November 2008
Final selling price - $10.99
This swan is marked and cracked

Auction #04

Australian pottery - this is a Wembley Ware black swan - it is in very good condition with no chips or cracks - the swan measures 20cm by 13cm - there is a Wembley Ware mark on the base - December 2008
Final selling price - $41.00

Auction #05

This is a wonderful Wembley Ware pottery swan - it is in a gorgeous black gloss glaze - the condition is very good with no chips, cracks or other repairs - it is quite a large piece, measuring 20cm long and stands 14cm high - the base has the impressed Wembley Ware mark - December 2008
Final selling price - $80.00

Auction #06

NOTE - this is one of the larger swans, as mentioned in the "Wembley Ware Collector's Price Guide" section above
You are bidding on a very large Wembley Ware swan - it is green in colour with a gold beak and the eyes are yellow with a black inner - the length of this swan is 23cm and it is 12cm high with a base 10cm in width - it is in very good condition - there is a small mark that is under the glaze - it is not a chip or scratch and you cannot feel it when you touch it, so I would say it is definately a manufacturing fault - it has both an impressed and stamped mark on the base - I have never seen a Wembley Ware swan this large so guess they are hard to find - this would have to be a must-have for a collector!! - December 2008
Final selling price - $90.40

Auction #07

Here is a beautiful lustrous swan vase made by Wembley Ware - it is finished in the famous lustrous glaze of traditional Wembley Ware - the finish is yellow with some marking on the beak and eye - Wembley Ware was in production during the 1950's until 1961 - their items were often made into usable items such as ashtrays and vases to save on sales taxes but they were always meant as display items - this swan measures approx 20cm long, 9cm at its widest and 14cm in height - I love this one and I know you will too - a rare find!! - I was told that this swan vase came from an old church hall and has had flowers stored in it for a very long time - I think this has effected the lustrous finish on the tail end of him - also there is a purple stain on the inside, I think from holding water - the swan has lost a bit of paint on her beak, as is common with lots of WW items - there are no chips or cracks that I can see - December 2008
Final selling price - $29.99
This swan is marked and has paint missing in some areas

Auction #08

There were no bids @ $95.00
Relisted with a starting price of just $0.99
Final selling price - $40.00

Auction #09

Wembley Ware Australian pottery - a large swan vase nut bowl - this item is described in the Wembley Ware book as a nut bowl but would be very impractable to use as such because of the deep narrow opening and would be better suited as a flower vase - it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs - it has a very clean interior with no staining - there is very minor paint loss to the beak - the swan measures 19cm in length - there is an impressed Wembley Ware mark on the base - January 2009
Final selling price - $40.00
Minor paint loss on the beak

Final selling price - $8.00
This swan has two surface cracks

Auction #14

Wembley Ware Swan with a mother of pearl lustre - presented for consideration is a delightful white lustre swan with a gold beak - it is glazed in a magnificent mother of pearl lustre - it has an impressed maker's mark of the style that was introduced in the late 1940’s and was in use through out the 1950’s - this magical piece measures in at 19cm (7.5") long and 10cm (4”) wide and it is 13cm (5.20”) tall - this sweet heart is in excellent condition - there are no chips, cracks, stains or repairs - however, it does exhibit just a hint of crazing - March 2009
There were no bids @ $120.00
