Rivals to prove point

A psychological edge will be the goal in the final regular season round of Cairns Baseball League competition tomorrow at Trinity Beach.

Reds face the final double-header of the season, playing the Playpen Cubs in the first game at 2pm then the Paramount Hire Shogun Heat at 4pm.

With Shogun Heat already assured of the Grand Final berth and Reds and Cubs locked in for the semi-final play-off, each side will be out to prove a point.

Cubs will be strengthened by the return from injury of Scott Webb, who with Brett Roneberg and Greg Westaway, will make for a lightning fast trio in the outfield.
"We are treating this as a practice match for the semi-final so we'll be giving it everything we've got," Cubs coach Matt Bolton said.
"Pitcher Greg Wicks has got a big job on his hands. We'd like 6-7 big innings from him.
"We can't allow Reds to get away from us.
"Usually they have one innings where they put on a lot of runs but we have to play percentage baseball and stop them."
