He married for the first time on 20th April 1931 to Dorothy Emily Hunn,
and they had a daughter Shirley who was born late in 1931 at Port Pirie
(National Archives - birthdate was 5th July 1931)
She lived in Western Australia with her second husband, Jack Holden
Shirley is now deceased

x Just as a matter of Interest This date range is well before the Introduction of Decimal Currency in 1966 Shirley's salary in 1948 was 131 pounds per year ($262) and by 1958 this had increased to 641 pounds per year ($1282) These days people are not happy with less than seventy thousand per year !! Naturally prices were quite different sixty years ago ... bread was $0.08 per loaf, petrol was $0.10 per litre, a car cost $1500 and a house was just $12000 !! x
