What is

Scarification

??

.

.

"Scarifying an area is the process of removing
the excess build up of dead turf leaves
and decaying roots from your lawn"

.

.

RYAN
ren - o - thin

.

This machine was borrowed from the Paradise
Palms Golf Club and their greenskeeper,
Olly,
came and showed Leon Nelson how to set it up
and use it to obtain the best result

.

The work gets underway ...... and the field looks like it's been rotary hoed !!

.

.

.

.

Here it looks like Leon is telling Olly to take his machine and get the hell out and stop wrecking the field !!

A couple of guys from the Soccer Club next door came over to check it out

A close up look at what scarification does

"scarifying removes an enormous quantity of plant material that has to be picked up off the surface with a vacuum"

A lawn vacuum was not available so when the entire infield was finished, the rideon mower was used
to blow all the 'rubbish' into rows and this was then loaded on to a couple of utes and carted away ...

... and there was around six full loads !!

When the field was cleaned up, Leon applied a generous dose of fertiliser

Next day the sprinklers were set up and the field begins it's recovery

A load of top dressing sand has been delivered and this will be applied as soon as possible
