NOTE #01 - I have got a Kodak Digital Camera and it has most of the "lights, bells and whistles" but it does
not have a wide angle lense ... however, the photos give a very good idea of the layout and look of the fields

NOTE #02 - Cairns hasn't seen any rain for months and you will notice this in the shots below with the
"brown" outfields ... however, both the diamonds are irrigated and are the right colour for grass - "green"

The Baseball Complex ... Entry Signs
This page includes the entry signs from 1991 and 2005 - it also shows the damage due to Cyclone Yasi in February 2011 ... and the new sign to replace it - six photos - Wednesday 25th May 2011

The Baseball Complex ... Aerial Views
On Wednesday 1st June 2011, the outfield lights on Diamond One were replaced and updated - while working at the top of one of the poles, a contractor snapped a few photos of the Complex and the surrounds - also included are shots of Trinity Beach Road ... and our home of twenty six years!! - there are twelve photos on this page and they can only be described as MAGNIFICENT!! - have a look!!

Diamond One ... New Perimeter Fence
A brand new +2 metre high fence ... which goes all the way from dugout to dugout !! - while this fence was being constructed, new bullpen areas on both the first base and third base sides were incorporated - the result looks fabulous !! - this page has links to ninety nine photos and these have been divided into various sections - the fence was completed during early November 2010

Diamond One ... Replacing and Updating the Lights
During Cyclone Yasi in February this year, a couple of the light heads were spun around and these needed to be fixed - and the opportunity was taken to replace and update all the lights on the four outfield poles - this page includes photos from the start of the work until the lights were turned on in the early evening ... and it is a great series of thirty two photos!! - the work was done on Wednesday 1st June 2011

Diamond One ... Home Run Fence
The +2 metre high fence looks great ... but the home run part of it lacked 'definition' - it was decided to hang green fence mesh along this part and the result is TERRIFIC!! - the photos show the effect perfectly - seven photos - at the moment, just over half the fence is finished and this was done during a Working Bee on Sunday 27th March 2011

Diamond One ... Foul Poles ... Page #01
The field is almost ready for action - one of the jobs remaining to do is the erection of the Foul Poles down each of the lines - there were some unused poles near Diamond Two - these are in perfect condition and it was decided to reuse them - but first they had to be dug out and this page includes twenty six photos showing this job from start to finish - Saturday 19th February 2011

As you've seen above, the poles have been dug out of the ground - and there is a big lump of concrete on each one ... and this has to go!! - Geoff and Sharon borrowed a sledgehammer and started swinging till the job was done - twenty nine photos, including 'before' and 'after' shots - Sunday 20th February 2011

Two poles had to be made from the three - one was cut in half and these sections were welded to the other two - and also mesh needs to be added to the 'fair ball' side of each pole - there are six photos on this page showing this work being done - Saturday 9th April 2011

During today's Working Bee, the finished poles were carried out to left and rightfield where holes had been dug - the crane arrived and they were lifted into the holes and concreted into position - and they look terrific!! - a great addition to the field - there are twenty eight photos on this page - Saturday 7th May 2011

Diamond One ... Backnet
The framework for an extension to the height of the backnet was erected a few years ago - a piece of netting was finally found and this has now been hung - thirteen photos - Saturday 7th May 2011

Diamond One ... Batter's Boxes / Catcher's Box / Mound
In an effort to stop holes being dug, coir mats have been placed just under the surface of the mound where the pitcher's foot lands - the page shows the pattern of how the mats were laid in this high wear area - seven photos - Saturday 18th June 2011

Diamond One ... Infield Grass Edges
Over the season the grass has grown ... quite a lot !! - and the edges had become overgrown ... also quite a lot !! - Grand Final Day is being held on Sunday 24th October and the field needs to be in 'pristine condition' - the edges were cut back and these seventeen photos show both the 'before' and 'after' looks ... a dramatic difference !! - Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st October 2010

Diamond One ... Infield / Outfield Grass Edge
Just like above, this edge had become overgrown during the season ... also quite a lot !! - there wasn't time to do it before Grand Final Day but it was done soon after - there are thirteen photos on this page which show both the 'before' and 'after' looks ... another dramatic difference !! - there is also a chart showing the measurements used - Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th October 2010

Diamond One ... General Information
With the 2011 Season starting in two weeks, the League held a Working Bee on Sunday 27th March 2011 - and here are a couple of jobs that were done:-
#1 - to make the infield 'hard and fast', Sharon gave it a very short cut using a hand mower - and it took a long time!! - five photos
#2 - the weeds keep coming and Ritchie keeps spraying!! - two photos

A lot of work and improvements have been made to Diamond One this off season ... and now it's Diamond Two's turn!! - the batter's and catcher's boxes along with the mound needed upgrading - the photos show the new 'hard' material added to these areas - and there is other maintenance required before the season gets underway ... so Sharon got out the paint and brush!! - fifteen photos - PLUS the page also includes a series of seven photos showing "Sharon with Her Shovel" - Saturday 27th March 2010

Diamond Two ... Page #02
The bases and mound had become a bit out of shape ... and the weeds were also starting to take over!! - all of these were re-marked and then the unwanted grass was poisoned - this was then chopped away by Geoff and Ritchie - and the results are very good ... the field looks terrific!! - in addition, the page includes a 'panoramic view' from centrefield and another taken from the roof of the scorer's box - there are a total of fourty five photos - Monday 27th December 2010

The 2011 Season gets underway on Sunday 10th April - it's time to level the 'skinned' areas, clean out the inground supports and put the bases back in the ground - the shots include Geoff, Sharon and Ritchie - there is also a panoramic shot of the field taken from home plate - eight photos - Sunday 27th March 2011

Once again, material has been added to the 'high wear' areas of home plate and the mound - clay has been added to the batter's and catcher's boxes plus the pitcher's landing spot on the mound - a different type of clay has been used, and hopefully it will be more successful than what was used in March 2010 as detailed above - twenty six photos - Saturday 16th April 2011

The Batting Cage ... Page #02
Since it was constructed, the batting cage has had one major problem ... the floor floods!! - and this is made worse as both the batters and pitchers dig holes as they are training - eventually the cage becomes unusable - it was decided to concrete the floor so it becomes ready for all weather use - two photos on this page show how the cage looked at the end of this season - and there are another five shots showing the preparation for the pouring of the slabe - Wednesday 10th November 2010

Astro turf had been purchased by the League a few years ago and was being stored at Ritchie and Karen Mounsey's home - this was transported to the fields, cut into the sections required, and has now been laid in the cage ... and it looks terrific!! - there are twenty photos on this page, showing the move and installation - plus there is a nice FairyTale to read - Tuesday 30th November 2010

The Reg Stein Equipment Storage Shed ... Page #01
This shed is used for mower and equipment storage and was four metres by three meteres in size - the four metre width stays the same, but it has been extended to over ten metres in length!! - the extensions started during February 2010 - there are ten photos on this page, with more to come as the work continues - these shots also include a photo of Reg, who was a long-time-groundsman for the League - page started on Sunday 21st February 2010

Back Field ... Pre-Game Warm Up and Training Area ... Page #01
Over the last couple of months, Cairns weather has been rain followed by Cyclone Yasi folled by more rain!! - the Back Field is 'under water' and mumerous f**kheads have used it to demonstrate just how big of an idiot they are!! - wheel ruts have completely damaged the field ... including some massive machine which recently crossed and dug huge trenches - the page includes photos of the damage along with a panoramic shot looking back to the Clubhouse - Friday 18th February 2011

This page shows major damage across the centre of the Field - after entering the grounds, a vehicle got bogged while trying to leave and the resulting tracks are massive!! - very long and very deep!! - there are six photos on this page which were taken on Saturday 5th March 2011, the day after the f**khead visited

General ... Another 'BIGGER' Rideon Mower
The League has purchased a secondhand rideon mower - it is a John Deere Model Number 1565 Series 11 ... and it has a massive seventy-two inch cutting width!! - the page includes details on the mower, full specifications and six photos - the machine was delivered on Friday 17th September 2010

General ... Cyclone Yasi ... The Result
This cyclone hit the Far North Queensland coast on Wednesday night 2nd February 2011 - fortunately the Baseball Complex did not have any serious damage - a couple of the heads on the light poles were spun around, the sign at the front was damaged, plus there were numerous trees and branches blown down - fourteen photos

General ... Cyclone Yasi ... Cleaning Up
A 'working bee' was organised to clean up the debris left behind after the cyclone had passed - and the opportunity was taken to tidy up a lot of the other trees and palms throughout the complex - the page includes terrific "finished result" and "panoramic" shots - seventeen photos - Saturday 12th February 2011

General ... Graffiti
This is not art ... it is Vandalism!! - this is now happening more often - the page includes five photos of some of the damage ... and there is much more!! - there is also the detail on the "Operation Clean Streets Program" introduced by the Cairns City Council and the Cairns Police - Friday 18th February 2011

General ... Storm Drain and Bank
This drain runs between the Soccer Fields and the Baseball Complex - much of the bank is maintained and mowed on a regular basis but one section was too rough and steep - the Cairns City Council has now fully landscaped this area ... and it looks fabulous!! - there are fifteen photos on this page, showing both the 'before' and 'after' looks - Thursday 14th April 2011

General ... Working Bee
This was held the day before the Australian Schoolboys Baseball Championships started in Cairns - these were held from Monday 23rd until Saturday 28th May 2011 - the fields needed a little bit of 'sprucing up' ... including whipper snipping, mowing, preparing training screens, digging holes, etc, etc - fourteen photos - Sunday 22nd May 2011
