Melanie is such a lovely
lady
It was pouring rain when we met at "The
Rock"
She grabbed an umbrella but it didn't do much
good ... we both still got soaked
!!
She still gave me the time to show her what is
going to happen for Tanya Mary and I really appreciated
that
She passed on both hers and your regards to
our family and spent time speaking about her own
experiences
One day I would like both of you to meet
Sharon and Brett and Kahlia
Trinity Beach
We moved to Cairns during 1981 ...... Tanya
was around 5/6 and Brett 2/3 years old
Trinity Beach is where we settled and have
lived here ever since !! ...... it is "our home"
The kids grew up ... went to Primary School
here and then they both attended Smithfield State High
School
The baseball fields here became an important
part of our lives with Brett becoming a Professional Player
Recently our CrossFit Exercise Group have used
these same fields for their training programs and workouts
Our Daughter,
Tanya
She loves everything about Trinity
!!
Watching her brother play baseball, exercising
with her friends ... but most importantly, the
Esplanade/Beach
If she wasn't working them out on the sand,
she was getting everyone to run up and down those 101 steps
!!
Sessions on the grass at the base of "The
Stairs" and others using the exercise equipment right next to
them
She would visit the restaurants ... L'unicos
and Fratelli's
Other times she would just lie on the beach or
sit under a tree reading a book
Tanya was heading to Trinity Beach on
that awful, heartbreaking, devasting day in May last year
This area is such an important part of her
life and, as a family, we spent many happy hours there
together
( got to admit though ... I didn't do any
exercise ... Sharon and Brett joined in ... my job was the stopwatch !!
)
How can I put into words the feeling I had
when you rang and said ...... "It's approved so go
ahead"
I will always remember how you rang on a
Friday because you wanted us to have the news for the
weekend
Such consideration and
kindness
There are no words ...... all I can say
is THANK
YOU from myself, Sharon, Brett and all her
Friends
The Plaque
Yes, it has been ordered via Trinity Monuments
...... they are very nice and helpful people
Having to go in and arrange it was terrible
... something like this for Our Precious Kid ... we miss her so
much
We kept it small and the finished size is 23cm
x 18.5cm ...... the inscription is as per the examples I have
sent
One part of the plaque needs to be made in
Italy with the main plate being organised by a foundry in
Australia
Installation will also be by this company and
it will be set into "The Big Rock" to the depth of the
plate
All told, it will be in place in around three
to four weeks
For the awful thing it represents, the Plaque
is beautiful ...... I know Tanya Mary will love it !!
And yes, I do have a full colour digital photo
of how it looks ...... but I'm hoping you don't ask for a copy
!!
It will be perfect
I'd really like for you and Greg and
Melanie and any others from the Cairns Regional Council along with
all her
friends to see it
for the first time when it has been
finished
The weeks and months go by ... so much sadness
and now May is almost here again
The day is going to be almost
unbearable for Sharon with the 11th also being Mother's Day this
year

As you know,
Tanya's Watch is there and now we'll have this beautiful plaque ......
it's a place we have, and will
continue, to visit
often to talk, laugh and cry
